The mainstream media is beside itself today after receiving confirmation that Congress has passed a deal put together by President Trump with, wait for it…the Democrats!
Weren’t congressional Democrats supposed to the “resistance” to Trump’s presidency? And now they’re cutting deals with him?
I seem to recall a lot of Democratic Senators vowing they’d never, NEVER work with Trump.
And yet, there they were, lining up to vote “yes” to his debt ceiling deal that includes disaster aid, even as members of Trump’s own GOP howled in protest.
Moments ago the Senate, as expected, passed the debt ceiling, government funding, hurricane aid deal, cobbled between Trump and the Democrats, to howls of protest from the GOP.
MAJORITY OF U.S. SENATE VOTES TO APPROVE $15.25 BILLION IN DISASTER AID, MEASURES TO FUND GOVT AND RAISE DEBT LIMIT THROUGH DEC. 8
As a result, the debt limit will be suspended until December 8 and and fund govt through Dec. 8; it also provides $15.25b in disaster funding for hurricane assistance. A vote in the House is expected tomorrow (or perhaps today), where the bill will also pass: it will be interesting which Republicans vote against the Trump/Democratic proposal.
This is just further evidence that Trump is a very different kind of president than we’ve ever seen before. He’s a businessman first, and a maverick businessman at that.
He’ll make a deal with whoever he needs to make a deal with in order to get the job done.
He’s proved that he can get anyone in line when the situation requires it.
Trump’s biggest problem now is convincing conservative voters that there’s nothing wrong with him making deals with Democrats to do what needs to be done.
