Certain stories are hard to hear about, but they need to be told so that others know the depravity of some people. This is one of them.
A family in Iowa seemed normal from the outside, but the inside of their home was something that nightmares are made out of. Filled with cats, dogs, feces and five children, the home was the most horrifying scene one could imagine, especially after you learn what happened to a 16-year-old girl living inside of it.
Nicole Finn, 43, was the adoptive mother of five children, the Daily Mail reported, and according to court records, she was more concerned over the animals living inside of the home than she was her own children. In fact, the living conditions for the children were so horrid that one of them, 16-year-old Natalie Finn, ended up starving to death because she was locked in a room for so long without food or water.
Graphic photos show the girl’s frail, lifeless body covered in blood with scratches and other marks from trying to escape the room she was locked in. The only problem was that he adoptive mother had nailed the widow shut, so there was no chance whatsoever of her being able to get away from her living nightmare.
One of the five siblings even wrote a note by hand begging for help that read “Can’t open window, mom nailed it shut!” The other four children were in such horrible shape that they had to spend weeks in the hospital just to recover from malnutrition.
From the Daily Mail:
The teen was found lying on a linoleum floor of their cat-filled home wearing an adult diaper. Her body was covered in bed sore and had almost no fat or muscle left, reported the Des Moines Register.
Experts testified that her siblings, Mikayla, 14, and Jaden, 15, were at risk of starving to death as well and spent months recovering after Natalie suffered cardiac arrest.
Mikayla testified in court that she had resorted to drinking from a toilet because she was so thirsty.
Judge Karen Romano called Finn’s actions inexcusable and ordered her to not have any contact with her surviving adopted children.
‘The court cannot imagine what kind of mental trauma these children have suffered,’ Romano said.
The Children’s mother was convicted of first-degree murder and three counts of kidnapping for what she did to the other children. She was handed down three consecutive life sentences for her horrific treatment of these poor children.
From the Des Moines Register:
Prosecutor Bret Lucas acknowledged that his request for consecutive life sentences for the offenses against Natalie, Jaden and Mikayla was largely symbolic.
“But if there was ever a case deserving consecutive life sentences, this would be that case,” he said.
This is just sickening beyond words. This woman should be put to death, not supported by taxpayers for the rest of her life.
