Michelle Obama has nothing in common with the working women of this country, and a reporter called her out for being completely disrespectful to them.
During a recent talk, the former First Lady shared her take on what a working woman should do and say. Obama spoke with TV producer Shonda Rhimes and said, “Don’t waste your seat at the table. If you are scared to use your voice, then you’ve got to get up and give it to someone who isn’t afraid to use the spot.”
Obama bragged that during an interview for a job at the University of Chicago medical Center, she demanded a flexible work schedule because she had young daughters at home.
Fox News opinion writer Liz Peek said what all working women already know, demanding a flexible schedule or any kind of “special treatment” is a quick way to be “shown the door.”
“To most women, Michelle Obama seems to have enjoyed a dream life. Married to a political supernova, spending eight years in the White House (which she once described as having ‘prison-like elements’), moving on to a life of luxury and power; she has no idea how the real world functions. Her advice could get a lot of women fired,” Peek wrote.
Obama’s statements reveal just how privileged and entitled she is. Most women don’t have that luxury.
Peek pointed out that Obama is constantly speaking for American women, telling them what to think. Peek gave what Obama said at an event in Boston as an example.
“As far as I’m concerned, any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice in a way. … We look at those two candidates, as women, and many of us said, ‘That guy. He’s better for me. His voice is more true to me.’ Well, to me that just says you don’t like your voice. You like the thing we’re told to like.”
