Missouri College Took a Stand Against NFL Protests — and Many Players Won’t Like It

Among many Americans sick and tired of the persistent and ever-annoying NFL protests, a college in Missouri spoke up as well. As a matter of fact, they fought back at the aggravating boycotts in a very appropriate and understandable way.

Still, what the school has done was not a move anyone would have anticipated.

The College of the Ozarks, which is a private Christian college in Missouri, has had enough of democratic politicizing of sports in America, so in the midst of a very quiet and inactive period for others, they decided to kick it up a notch and take radical steps against it.

In fact, what they did was unlike anything any other college has ever done. Namely, the college introduced a new program for all freshmen that obliges them to take a course encouraging patriotism. This is the best it can get, folks. The course is set out to be a military science class called “Patriotic Education and Fitness,” teaching on both ROTC and physical education courses while focusing on maintaining the American pride.

The ultimate objective of the course was to instruct students on military procedures, rifle marksmanship, map reading, land navigation, and rope knotting. Basically, this is a 101 lesson for students to learn everything they need to know about protecting the country.

“Patriotic education is not inherited. It must be taught, it must be modeled, it must be emphasized,” College of the Ozarks President Jerry Davis said.
This is an unprecedented move and deeply appreciated by many. Even more, in September the school announced its “no pledge, no play” policy. What this policy entails is that the school’s athletic teams will not compete against other teams if the players on those teams refuse to stand during the national anthem.

The call came after obvious boycotts within the NFL and other sports Leagues.

“The College of the Ozarks will not play in games where disrespect is exhibited toward the American flag or national anthem,” Davis said. “Opponents are pledging to meet the College’s expectations for respect of the national anthem and American flag. Otherwise, our college will not participate.” He continued, “It’s a shame sporting events are being used to communicate disrespect for this great country. We will not be a part of this.”

The college has taken a drastic stand against what seems to have become one of the biggest issues in the country. Having in mind that America is already struggling with plenty of other foreign issues, it is simply inexplicable that we, as patriots, need to suffer internal boycotts that go no one any good. The sooner we realize that what this college is standing up for is the real deal, the better our chances of preserving our integrity as Americans are. Sugar, spice, and everything nice, with a large dose of patriotism, please!
What’s that, you may ask? It is the definitive recipe for keeping up your American spirit alive! Yes, sprinkle that thing on everyone. Let’s remember what it felt like being one nation under God!
