Alabama Senatorial candidate Roy Moore’s accuser’s mother, told Breitbart News that the Washington Post convinced her daughter to speak about the allegations against Moore.
Leigh Corfman told the Washington Post that when she was 14, Moore tried to engage in a sexual encounter with her. Corfman’s mother, Nancy Wells, 71, told Breitbart News that her daughter would have never said anything if it wasn’t for The Post’s reporters pushing.
Moore has staunchly denied any and all accusations. He questioned the timing of The Post’s story which was just a few weeks before the December 12 election.
Wells shared that her daughter did not seek out The Post, they called her and convinced her to talk to them. When Breitbart asked Wells about the timing of the article, she said, “She was contacted by the reporter. That’s why.”
The Post, did in fact report that Corfman did not seek out the newspaper. Allegedly two reporters were in Alabama following up with supporters of Moore’s Senate campaign, when they heard of a story about Moore pursuing young women.
The reporters stated that the four women they spoke with were reluctant to speak publicly, but agreed after many interviews.
After the news broke, Moore said, “These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign.”
The Senate hopeful added, “This garbage is the very definition of fake news and intentional defamation.”
Moore shared in a statement that he has been scrutinized in the press for forty years. He stated that in every election he’s ever run in, investigations have followed because of his religious liberty views and the Ten Commandments, as well as his views about same-sex marriage.
“I’ve been investigated more than any other person in this country. That grown women would wait forty years to come right before an election to bring charges is absolutely unbelievable,” Moore concluded.
